• 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup beer
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil + more for frying
  • 1 egg
  • 3 large onions, peeled and cut into 1/4″ slices

In a medium bowl, stir together flour and salt. Add beer, 2 tablespoons oil, and egg; beat until smooth.

Heat 3/4″ of oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Separate onions into rings. Dip each ring into batter (drain excess batter over bowl) and drop a few rings at a time into hot oil. Fry 2-3 minutes, turning occasionally. 

Drain on paper towels, sprinkle with salt if desired.
