• 1/4 cup olive or vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1/8 tsp black pepper
  • 3 whole cloves
  • 8 boneless chicken breast halves

Combine oil, soy sauce, juice, sugar, garlic, basil, pepper, and cloves in a medium bowl. Mix well. Place chicken in a glass baking dish or Ziploc bag. Pour marinade over chicken. Cover (or seal bag) and refrigerate at least 4 hours or overnight, turning occasionally. 

Preheat barbecue grill. Place chicken breasts on grill. Grill 5 minutes on each side or until juices run clear. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
