• 1-1/4 cups butter or margarine
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Cream butter and sugar in a large mixing bowl. Add eggs and vanilla; beat well. Combine flour, cocoa, and baking soda; blend into creamed mixture. 

Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8-9 minutes. (Do not over bake, cookies will be soft. They will puff during baking and flatten upon cooking.)

Cool on cookie sheet until set, about 1 minute. Remove to wire rack. Cool completely.

Makes about 4 dozen cookies
