• 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Spray a cookie sheet with no-stick spray and set aside.

In a large bowl, stir together dry ingredients. Make a well in the center of the mixture. Add egg and buttermilk and stir just until all ingredients are combined.

Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of flour evenly on a work surface. Transfer dough onto work surface and knead about 30 seconds or until almost smooth. Transfer the dough to the prepared cookie sheet and shape it into a round loaf, about 6″ in diameter. Using a sharp knife, slash a cross on the top of the loaf. Bake about 35 minutes or until golden. Carefully transfer the loaf to a wire rack and cool slightly before serving.
