• 8 ounces dried navy beans
  • 5 cups water
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 8 ounces ham, cut into bite-size pieces
  • 2 carrots, peeled and sliced into 1/4″ slices
  • 1 28-ounce can diced tomatoes
  • 1 green pepper, diced
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 bay leaf

Rinse and sort beans. Soak beans in water overnight. Drain and rinse.

Combine all ingredients in a large slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours. Remove bay leaf before serving.
