- 8 ounces dried navy beans
- 5 cups water
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 8 ounces ham, cut into bite-size pieces
- 2 carrots, peeled and sliced into 1/4″ slices
- 1 28-ounce can diced tomatoes
- 1 green pepper, diced
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1 bay leaf
Rinse and sort beans. Soak beans in water overnight. Drain and rinse.
Combine all ingredients in a large slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours. Remove bay leaf before serving.
